The Vi-Nil Records INDIE SOUNDS concept came about in 2022, when Vi-Nil Records was re-launched after a long hiatus. INDIE SOUNDS FROM THE HARBOUR CITY Vol.1 contained tracks from every Vi-Nil band released in the 80s and not only helped re-establish the label in the public eye, but led to an ongoing annual compilation release showcasing different regions from around NSW.
Launch tours for each of the releases have grown each year, with the 2026 tour taking in 16 dates and featuring over 25 bands. For the first time, the tour ventures away from the coast, hitting Orange and Dubbo.
